How does mercenaries reputation work?

Weekly knowledge test: 27/03- 02/04/2015

How does mercenaries reputation work? And how is the relation between the two different mercenaries on each side? Can you do both at the same time?

Red Axes are rivals of Night Stealers in Magmar lands, Stoned Lotus are rivals of Night Stealers in humans lands. Every time you receive reputation for one clan, the reputation for the other clan will decrease. That's the reason why people get purple badge of one clan before starting working on the reputation for the other clan. Just don't forget to buy the bag.

Have sword, will travel. Have axe, will hack. Such is the mercenaries' creed. But, in the Faeo universe, as long as the client is paying, other than the usual bashing and slashing of targets, mercenaries wouldn't mind turning into glorified errand boy (or girl) and do some mild grocery shopping, even as far as going out of pocket to pay for said requested items! It's all done in the name of pleasing the Merc Bosses, who decide aspiring-mercenaries-pledges' worthiness.

So, who are these Bosses? (Or, are they *REALLY* "The Boss" :glance: ? The power behind the power? The kingmaker? I mean think about it: shouldn't a leader of clandestine organization be extra careful and conceals his/her real identity? Perhaps what we have here are mere frontmen, or trusted right hands, or body doubles, etc, etc. I know good ones would have such measure in place! Anyway, I digress :P .)

For Humans, there are:
- Redoubtable Lloyd from the Stone Lotus clan (suspected to have HQ'd around Barrow of Sadness).
- Elusive Suan from Night Stealers society (likes to hangs out at Steppe Vista).

Across the pond, the Magmars have:
- Bloodthirsty Kyew from the Red Axes crew (enjoys Ridge of Darkness' scorpions BBQ).
- Phinko the Sage from the Night Stealers faction (chillin' at Lost Wastelands).

Keen readers may spot there are Night Stealers representative on both sides. Why is there you ask? Other than what you can read in-game, you may find additional reading material >> here. <<

Critical readers may also have question about what kind of business model is this for an organization that's not exactly shy about reaping profit from shedding blood to tolerate another competitor vying for the same market share? Well, the answer is they don't. Water-dog meet Oil-cat. Mix, they don't. (Where's the Yoda emoticon in this joint!?) Their "if you're not with us, then you're against us" no nonsense approach means if a player is foolish enough to play both fields, that player is going nowhere fast. Increasing reputation for one group has an adverse effect of decreasing reputation for the other group. However, since these organizations have strict no-refund policy once they've issued their maximum medal, players can then jump ship ("Traitors!") to increase their rep for the other organization. In fact, there's an app achievement for that. So, players simply must take one-at-a-time approach.

Raising the reputation in the game can't be more straight forward than this: Do what is asked of you successfully, and you will receive reputation points. You can also stomp your foot, cross your arms and pout "I don't wanna ..." to reject the assignment. Either way, you get 3 days mandatory vacation before you'll be given another task. (I'm still thinking how can I get that kind of gig in RL universe. Or, how to work "But boss, Faeo's mercs only work twice a week." into a conversation with current employment!) Hates vaccay? Workaholics rejoice! In the spirit of Russian Reversal, post 2015 update, players can PAY to bypass the time cool down. I know rite? Mercs can be bribed? Who woulda thunk!

When you reach lvl 4 you can start working in mercenaries reputation. There are two mercenaries for each race. Red axes and night stealer for magmars, and stone lotus and night stealers for humans.
You must chose one of them and start doing the quests. In those quests they'll ask you kill some monsters, instance boss or hand in resources. Each quest gives you 50 rep in select mercenarie.
If you start doing a mercenarie rep, you can't do quests of the another mercenarie, because if you earn reputation from one mercenarie, you'll lose in the another mercenarie. If you want have rep in both mercenaries, you must get 3K and then switch.
If you're lvl 4, you can get only at 1K rep. But from lvl 5 you can earn the max reputation and you can also do the workship medal.
Quests are available one time every 3 days, but now there was an update, that you can pay with golds to remove that time.
I'm cute :D
