The rank is not (only) connected to the quantity of posts, rather on the reputation you got: If you click onto the little star beneath an author's avatar you can rate their postings.
After testing it I have to correct myself: The posting rank seems to be connected to the number of posts (or something Yvil set up instead of it). Underneath it there is a quality-indicator. This one reacts to the rating of the posts.
