I get free messages from my bank and from my doctor. Yes, of course they pay for it, but it's what they do for their customers, it's called customer service, when you do something good for customers. And here in the game no matter ho paypals, we all are customers. And if we think your way - then developers don't have to do anything for players (customers) because they have to pay for it, for them everything they make in the game costs them something, internet traffic is not free you know, if they have too many files in game client it will lag, they will have to pay more for internet as traffic will increase etc. etc.
Interesting question is why you think about "them" while I think about "us"

we neither have a secure connections when we log in, all is so clear that everybody could get your pass and hope you don't use the same for important things too....
oh well important things would got anti- theft whole planned out...
