Reason:
FC Bayern München is not only about football department but other sports like
Basketball, field hockey, ping pong etc.
Also organization in a club with paying fee and social contacs is very popular in germany
And histrically pronounced.
Interesting:
Years long Benfica Lissabon reportet much more then 235.000 members
And was considered tob e the biggest european club by membership.
As long as they had a „renumbering“ of all members, in which deceased and resigned members
Have been sorted out and numbers were renewed > which lead to a decrease
