Reason:

Autotrophic organism feed on inorganic substances, e.g. Carbon dioxide, water.
These include, for example, plants that operate photosynthesis
Mushrooms f.e. are heterotroph, they do get carbon from somewhere else as well.

It's the Gizzard part of their stomach. They sometimes eat small pebbles and stones which help them with digesting their food.
